PTO meeting September 11, 2012
Who are we? We have a new mission this year to foster better relationships between parents and teachers. We are focusing on appreciating the teachers more this year.
This month we were excited be have a few new parents at our meeting as well as a few teachers. Thank you for coming out. We hope to see you next month. We will also have a Spanish interpreter from now on so we welcome all our Elmwood parents. We hope to see you at next months meeting on October 9, 2012.
Today we had Bernie's book bank come to our school and donate age appropriate books to each and every student in our school. These books are for students to keep. Bernie's book bank is always looking for volunteers in their warehouse if you are interested please go to the web site on the bag that the students brought home. Also, if your child got a book that he/she does not want or if they want to trade or if they just want some more books, we have a book shelf right in front of the office. Feel free to have a look if you would like a book or two.
Parents Empowering Parents is happening on Tuesday September 18, 2012. If you have a child in Kindergarten or in first grade you should have received an invitation to come and join us. This is a collaboration of the Lake county health department and PTO, to help empower parents to talk to other parents and find out if they need anything to help them get their children to school each day and on time. We hope we have a great turnout.
This year our district has started using common core as our new curriculum. The whole country is now using common core to make a things easier.
Attendance is very important this year. we hope that we can raise our attendance this year. Please let us know if we can do anything this year to get your child/children to school each day and on time.
