Residency Verification Process and Procedures

Zion Elementary District 6 and the Board of Education are proud of the educational opportunities that are available and provided to our students. To fulfill our obligation to District 6 taxpayers, we are pleased to announce that we have contracted a third party firm, who also works with Zion Benton Township High School, that will provide our District with current address information that allows us to verify families’ address information electronically. Utilizing this firm will allow us to continue allocating our resources to educate only those students who are entitled to attend our schools and ensure we are in compliance with the state law.

What does this mean for you?
Each year residency verification is mandatory for all students attending Zion District 6. It is an important step in the registration process and required by law. All parents/guardians must provide physical proof of residency in order for students to begin or continue enrollment in our schools. We understand manual residency verification increases the time for our families to complete the registration process for their child(ren). In an effort to improve and expedite the process for registering families, while also safeguarding our taxpayers from being burdened with the education of students who do not reside within our school district boundaries, the adoption of this electronic address verification will be beneficial for all stakeholders.

New Students

  • Residency verification with physical documentation will remain mandatory for all new and transfer students prior to enrollment in our district.
