Board of Education Seat Open for Zion Elementary School District 6

The Zion Elementary School District 6 announces an open seat for the Board of Education; this opening is due to an unfilled seat from the April 1, 2025 election.  As per state requirements, this vacancy will be filled by appointment.  Interested candidates may pick up applications from the Superintendents’ Office located at District Administration Office, 2800 29th Street, Zion, IL between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. beginning Wednesday, April 16, 2025.  Completed applications must be returned to the Superintendents’ Office by 4:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025.  Interviews will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025.  The appointed candidates will serve starting on June 16, 2025 until the next Board of Education election in April 2027.

To be eligible to serve, a school board member must be, on the date of appointment, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a registered voter, a resident of the State of Illinois and the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, and may not hold an incompatible office or be named on the Child Sex Offender register.
