Asbestos Notifications

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986 is a U.S. federal law that requires schools to inspect their buildings for asbestos-containing materials and take action to prevent or reduce asbestos hazards. AHERA was enacted as part of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and is enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Zion Elementary School District 6 is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students, staff, and visitors by maintaining full compliance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Our district conducts regular asbestos inspections and monitoring to identify and manage any asbestos-containing materials in our schools. We remain committed to transparency by keeping families and staff informed of our ongoing asbestos management efforts.
