Fees, Fines, and Charges

Pursuant to Board Policy 4:140 Waiver of Student Fees, the Board of Education authorizes the administration of student fees.

Fees and fines are determined annually and approved by the ZESD 6 Board of Education (BOE). Each year, the ZESD 6 BOE also determines which fees will be waived for all students. Fees that are not universally waived shall follow the district's established fee waiver guidelines. Regardless of waived fees, students remain responsible for charges and fines for lost or damaged books, locks, materials, supplies, equipment, and technology. See Board Policy 4:140. Pursuant to Public Act 102-805 (effective 1-1-23), fines for loss or damage to school property are waived for students who meet certain eligibility guidelines.

Our district does not permit discrimination, punishment, or penalization of any student due to an unpaid balance on a school account or because a parent or guardian is unable to pay required fines or fees related to lost school property.
