Teen Dating Violence Awareness

In accordance with the Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/27-23.3), the Board of Education of Zion Elementary School District 6 has adopted a Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Policy. The District is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and recognizes that teen dating violence negatively impacts student well-being and academic success.

Reporting Concerns

Students who experience or witness teen dating violence are encouraged to report concerns to a trusted adult, teacher, school counselor, building principal, or other designated staff member.

Parents/guardians are also encouraged to contact school administration if they have concerns regarding student safety.

Teen dating violence includes physical, sexual, emotional, or psychological abuse within a dating relationship. It may occur in person or through electronic means (including social media, texting, or other digital communication).

District Commitment

The District will:

  • Provide age-appropriate education about healthy relationships.

  • Promote awareness and prevention strategies.

  • Encourage reporting of concerns.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to reported incidents.

  • Provide support and resources to affected students.
