Teaching & Learning
The Teaching and Learning Department works collaboratively to support the academic and social-emotional learning for all students and staff in Zion Elementary District 6. Our team is responsible for the planning and implementation of Curriculum & Instruction, Assessment and Accountability, Early Learners, Advanced Learners, Enrichment, and Professional Development.
Our goal is to remain student-focused with a solid foundation of sound instructional strategies to ignite creativity, support individual growth, provide experiential learning opportunities, and cultivate lifelong learners through the following:
- Ensure that all students have access to teaching and learning opportunities aligned within their proximal development.
- Increase student learning through the implementation of research-based best practices district-wide.
- Improve student and staff performance to eliminate achievement gaps.
- Support a strong continuum of services for all students through Multi-Tiered Support Systems (MTSS), Language Acquisition, and Extended Services.
- Expand fine, visual, and performing arts programming.
- Leverage current and emerging technologies to provide innovative and creative tools and an environment that fosters discovery, promotes global citizenship, and enables members of our community to thrive in a rapidly changing society.
